Blood Flow Restriction (BFR) Training
Current ACSM (American College of Sports Medicine) guidelines recommend that individuals perform resistance training at a load of more than 65% of their 1-repetition maximum (1RM) to achieve strength and hypertrophy gains. However, individuals undergoing rehabilitation after injury or surgery are often not cleared to perform such heavy loads.
BFR Training offers a safe, innovative alternative. By applying a specialized tourniquet system to the limb during low-load exercise (20–30% 1RM), patients can achieve strength and muscle growth comparable to high-load training — without the stress heavy lifting places on healing tissues.
Benefits of Training
+ Improved strength and muscle size during rehabilitation.
+ Reduced muscle loss during periods of limited mobility.
+ Enhanced pain management and functional recovery.
+ Potential benefits for bone healing, endurance, and tissue repair.
BFR is backed by decades of safety data when performed with FDA-approved equipment under the supervision of trained professionals. If you are safe to exercise, you are generally safe to perform BFR training.
