“Dr. Julie Mills is a Board-Certified Emergency Medicine Physician who joined Cascade Medical Center in January 2026. Raised in Michigan, Dr. Mills earned her undergraduate degree from Michigan State University before completing medical school at Midwestern University-Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine in Glendale, Arizona. After medical school, she completed her residency in Emergency Medicine in Chicago.
Dr. Mills started her career in emergency medicine in Grand Junction, Colorado. She relocated to Idaho in 2014 to continue practicing emergency medicine. EMS has been a central focus throughout her time in Idaho, including serving as an EMS Medical Director for Washington County Paramedics, Midvale Fire and EMS, Cambridge Fire and Ambulance, Council Valley Ambulance and Emergency Response Ambulance in Rupert. As a strong advocate for rural medicine, Dr. Mills greatly values the dedication of EMS and fire professionals who work diligently to protect their communities.
In July 2017, Dr. Mills moved to Donnelly where she became part of the Valley County community. She would commute to Weiser and then Rupert for several years to work in their emergency departments. Dr. Mills has worked with Cascade Medical Center occasionally since 2019 and joined the Cascade Medical Center Team fulltime as of January 1st, 2026. She will be working in the Emergency Department and act as the Emergency Department Medical Director.
Outside of the hospital, Dr. Mills enjoys an active outdoors lifestyle represented through skiing, mountain biking, road biking, hiking, kayaking, camping and many other activities. While her family remains rooted in Michigan, time is often spent traveling to visit loved ones and to explore new places together. Her life in Donnelly provides daily inspiration, especially while enjoying sunsets from home. Boo, her beloved 4-legged companion adopted four years ago, accompanies her on many outings—from biking and hiking to kayaking and ATV exploring.
Dr. Mills joining Cascade Medical Center represents an exciting new chapter and a continued commitment to serving rural Idaho. With more than 22 years of experience in medicine, Dr. Mills is passionate about teaching and sharing knowledge with colleagues and staff while delivering compassionate, high-quality, and advanced emergency care to every patient. She is excited to be a part of Cascade Medical Center and the community and we are excited to have her!
